Design for Good Movie: Planting Seeds

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, landscape architecture firm SWA Group volunteered to transform the grounds of the Bayview Opera House into a revitalized and welcoming space for the community to enjoy. Filmmakers Dianna Dilworth and Trevor Smith capture the inspiring process in the documentary film, "Planting Seeds."

2010 CH+D Awards Gala at the SFDC

On Wednesday, February 3, California Home + Design hosted nearly 300 members of the state’s design community to announce and celebrate the 10 winners of the magazine’s fifth annual design awards. Held inside the Galleria Atrium of the San Francisco Design Center, attendees enjoyed wine, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and got their first look at the new February/March issue, which features in-depth stories and jaw-dropping photo spreads of each of the winning projects. During the ceremony, Editor in Chief Sarah Lynch presented the winners with a silver box engraved with their firm name and award, as well as a $1,500 gift certificate from Istanbul Rugs.

FAMILY MAN

Steven Rajninger is a partner at San Francisco’s Herman Coliver Locus Architecture and has 15 years of architectural design experience with institutional and residential projects. His firm focuses on the design of community centers, affordable housing, sacred spaces and houses. He is a member of Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR) and is board president of the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco Foundation , which provides a safe haven for critically ill children and their families.
